In the 1960s, at the height of the Vietnam war, the country's largest city, Saigon, continued to live its life. At that time, it was the capital of South Vietnam, but today the city has a different name – Hochiminh city. Now more than 8 million people live in Saigon. The city has developed industry, tourism, and many high-rise buildings among the architectural monuments, which are the first skyscrapers in Vietnam. In 2014, the construction of the tallest building in the city – the 81-storey building the Landmark81 started. However, 60 years ago, things didn't look the same as they do today. These color photos were taken by Wilbur E. Garrett, who visited the city in the first half of the 60s.
