In the area of the ancient Sumerian city of Girsu, in Iraq, archaeologists have found a ritual Shrine dedicated to Ningirsu, the God of war. Researchers believe that the age of the find is about 5 thousand years. The territory was used for ritual processions, religious gatherings, and sacrifices. The last statement is not unfounded - archaeologists have found a lot of animal bones. Cones with symbols that can be spells were found in the walls of the building. In addition, we managed to find a lot of different artifacts – mainly dishes that were used during rituals.
Among the 300 artifacts, there was one small statuette in the form of a duck. In Girsu, scientists also found clay tablets that describe a variety of cult practices. In one of the texts there is a speech about a religious procession, which is organized twice a year. Each procession ended with a feast.
