In Liberia, a gold coin with a face value of 25 dollars was issued. The collector's novelty, produced in a circulation of 2500 copies, is dedicated to opal-a mineral that is used in jewelry. A special feature of the coin is an insert in the form of an opal, which adorns the reverse. Above the decorative insert is an image of Australia in the form of a cluster of dots, and on the side – silhouettes of kangaroos and lizards. The obverse shows the coat of arms of Liberia, the year and country of issue, and the denomination.

Opal occurs in nature quite rarely, the main exporter is Australia (according to data on the continent is more than 90% of the world's supply). Most of the precious stones belong to the category of "light opal". Large deposits of Australian opals are located in the state of Queensland. Among rare stones, opal with black color is very highly valued – when you look at it in more detail, the shades can go from dark gray to blue and black. In Australia, the opal is recognized as a national stone.
