In the Japanese city of Osaka, in one of the temples called Omiyajinja found a large wooden statue of the warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The discovery of the artifact was reported on may 21. It is known that the statue was made in the Edo period (1603-1867) – it is the largest figure of those ancient times, depicting Hideyoshi, it is made in full size.

The military and political figure is depicted in a sitting position – the height is 81.9 cm. The product is made from fragments of hinoki. Hideyoshi is dressed in traditional ceremonial court attire, his face expressive and embossed. The exact date of manufacture of the statue is unknown, the estimated time of creation – XVII century. The find is planned to be publicly displayed next year, in April.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi - unifier of Japan, who lived in 1537-1598. Born into a peasant family, he served with several military leaders until he became a General. He held the title of "great Minister" (daijo-daijin).
