We continue to talk about stamps dedicated to the history of postal routes in Europe. On may 8, Gibraltar presented two novelties with the image of ships of the XIX century, which transported correspondence and parcels. Both images on the stamps were designed by the artist Beatrice Garcia. Printed products offset method, the size of one copy - 50x30 mm. Souvenir sets with two types of stamps are available, as well as sheets with eight stamps of the same type.

On the stamp with a face value of 1.66 pounds, you can see the ship "Lady Mary Wood", registered under this name in 1842. Its length was 48.99 m, and its speed reached 12 knots. The ship delivered mail to China, Singapore, and Ceylon. "SS Iberia" - the ship that decorated the stamp with a nominal value of 2.86 pounds sterling. Launched in 1836, the ship was equipped with a steam engine and reached a length of 47.36 m, moving through the water at a speed of 9 knots. He was sent to Porto, Lisbon, Cadiz, and Madeira.
