Sotheby's will put the Kliman collection up for sale

Sotheby's will sell one of the most important works of African art that has ever appeared at auction. The auction will be held on June 29, in new York. According to an approximate estimate, the cost of the figure with an elongated head is 2.5 million dollars. The item is part of the clyman collection, the lot is displayed under the name "The Clyman Fang Head". In addition, during the week it is planned to sell other items from the collection, which will be put up for auction of modern, impressionist and modernist art.

Sidney and Bernice Clyman became interested in collecting in the 1970s, when the African art market began to develop in the United States. They were clients of the famous dealer Gaston de Havenon, for half a century they collected a not very large, but impressive collection of real masterpieces. Gallery owner Allan stone and artist Merton D. Simpson organized an exhibition where they combined items brought from Africa with the works of abstract artists.
