The photos below show Cairo, which is known as the City of a Thousand Minarets. The images were taken in the first third of the last century. Some buildings have been preserved to this day, others are in the past, and we know them from old photos. The city was founded in 969, when Egypt was captured by the Fatimid dynasty. However, earlier there were other settlements, and the Mosque of Ibn Tulu was built. In the second half of the XIX century. Cairo developed thanks to foreign loans, which led to a large debt – the city was for a long time dependent on the UK.
