According to ancient documents, Bucharest already existed in 1459 – the city was built on the site of the residence of Prince Vlad Tepes. In 1862, Bucharest became the capital of the Romanian state. A little earlier, in 1847, a fire destroyed a significant part of the city. Over time, it was rebuilt, and in the second half of the XIX century, the city's population grew significantly. The city was named "Little Paris", because before the Second world war, many buildings were built in the French style. These photos were taken at the very beginning of the XX century.
