Angola will issue several new banknotes over the course of the year

The national Bank of Angola will introduce new banknotes within a year that will contain the image of the Angolan statesman Antonio Agostinho Neto. As additional elements of protection, fragments of the hymn "Angola Avante" will be used, which will be introduced in the form of a microtext. Banknote denominations: 200/500/1000/2000 Kwanza. The 200 Kwanzaa banknotes will appear on July 30, and the rest will be in circulation later this year. In 2021, the series is planned to be supplemented with another new product with a nominal value of 5000 kwanzas. Since the current paper money quickly wears out, the new banknotes are reinforced with polymer material.

Antonio Neto is the first President of the people's Republic of Angola, who took office in 1975. He lived for some time in Portugal when Angola was a Portuguese colony. Participated in the organization of the struggle for independence, was imprisoned in 1955-1957. In 1962, the future President fled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and after the independence of Angola became the first President of the country and developed the state, taking a course towards socialism.
