Among the Mexican mountains, on the top of Cerro de la Peña found impressive artifacts - stone monuments covered with images. The age of the finds exceeds 1.5 thousand years. The creators of the monuments, apparently, were representatives of the Zapotec civilization.

One of the finds is better preserved – a stone slab, which shows a cloth-clad man with horns and claws. On another plate are engraved various animals and mythical creatures: an iguana, a bird, a bat in the image of a woman - a deity that was associated with death. In addition, 87 glyph – pictographs were found on some rocks, which are part of the ancient writing system. Their authors may have been residents of Teotihuacan.

The remains of an ancient civilization were reported by local residents. The Zapotec civilization existed several thousand years ago in what is now Mexico. The first evidence of this state dates back to about 700 BC. from the II to IX century, the civilization experienced its heyday, but the last days it survived in the XVI century, when its remnants were conquered by the Spanish conquistadors.
