Old brooches found two years ago were recognized as historical value

Two old Viking brooches created by craftsmen more than 1 thousand years ago were recognized as historical value. Scientists believe that both ornaments once belonged to an unknown Princess. The finds were dug out of the ground by Amateur archaeologists who explored the area on the Isle of man. Although they were found two years ago, it is only now that the artifacts are recognized as being of historical value.

Brooches are oval, which is typical for traditional Viking jewelry, but they are quite rare. The products are made of bronze and supplemented with silver wire. The surface of the items is covered with gold. Experts believe that such jewelry was worn by women who had a significant social status. Artefacts indicate that the Scandinavians lived here already in the X century.

It is worth noting that these brooches served not only as jewelry-they were used as fasteners. With their help, it was possible to securely attach parts of the outer and inner dress to each other. Between the brooches was a beautiful necklace.
