In 1744, the largest enterprise producing porcelain products in the Russian Empire, the Imperial porcelain factory, was founded in Saint Petersburg. In addition to this name, the factory had several others: "Nevskaya porselinovaya Manufactura", "Lomonosov porcelain factory", "Leningrad porcelain factory". The presence of a brand with the abbreviation "ЛФЗ" can denote both variants of the name - "Lomonosov..." or "Leningrad...".

The first mass production of the enterprise in the middle of the XVIII century was small dishes and snuff boxes. Later in the range appeared sets and figures, the height of which at first did not exceed 50 cm. At the beginning of the XIX century. sales showed that the most popular were richly decorated products that were purchased by wealthy buyers. Gift items were made for holidays such as New year, Easter and Christmas. Antique copies made at the "Imperial porcelain factory" are found at Violity, for example, this statuette of a boy with a pigeon.

The plant's management did not limit itself to one line of activity. In 1765, a school was opened, where children of factory workers were trained. In 1796, the factory opened a marble Department that produced pedestals for large vases. In addition, there was a bronze workshop, which significantly reduced the cost of framing.

In the first half of the XX century, the volume of propaganda products increases. Orders are being received for dishes dedicated to party congresses. The plant's products from different periods are stored in many museums around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of art in new York, the Victoria and albert Museum in London, and the Hermitage.
