In Germany, a silver coin with the image of the literary character Baron Munchausen was presented. Numismatic novelty with a nominal value of 20 euros is made of 925 silver and released in honor of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the prototype of the literary hero - Karl Friedrich Hieronymus Baron von Munchausen. Frantisek Chochola worked on the design. On the front side, he depicted the coat of arms of Germany, under which there are 12 stars of the European Union. The metal sample is shown between them, and the nominal value is shown at the bottom. The letter "A" indicates the place of production - the Berlin mint. On the reverse side is a circular inscription "300. GEBURTSTAG FREIHERR VON MUNCHHAUSEN", and in the center - a Baron in a blue and red suit, sitting on a Cannonball that flies into the distance (illustration of an episode of one of the stories). The letter combination "Ch" indicates the author of the design.

Baron Munchausen served in Russia as a page to Duke Anton Ulrich. In 1738, the Baron went to war, becoming a participant in the Turkish campaign. Later, he commanded the honor guard, meeting the future Queen Catherine II, who in 1744 was still a Princess. In the second half of his life, Munchausen became famous as a great storyteller, adding incredible episodes to real-life memories of adventures in Russia. Thanks to these stories, an artistic image was created based on the personality of the Baron, which is known to us from the collection of short stories, cartoons and cinema.
