Patterns of ladies' dresses and children's suits are a lot that the female part of the Violiti website users has not spared. After all, the outfits that can be sewn with their help are modeled after the fashion of the late 19th century. And the trends of the past tend to come back. But the value of this book is not only in this.

"The latest practical and simplified method of cutting dresses and other outfits for women and children" - a methodological guide for cutting and sewing, supplemented by diagrams and tables. The 19th edition was published under the editorship of Ksaveriy Glodzinski in 1898 in Warsaw. The text of the book is supplemented with 44 double-sided tables with detailed descriptions of patterns, reported on the site.

The author starts with the basics - taking measurements, anatomical and plastic analysis and recommendations for matching models to specific figures. It covers topics of different styles, materials and types of clothing - dresses, blouses, coats. Emphasizes their details - collars, bodices, cuffs, hoods. Also discusses chemical methods for cleaning and washing clothes.

At the end of the methodological manual, the addresses of the schools of Xaviery Glodzinsky in Moscow, St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg and Warsaw are given. Including prices for courses and other specialized literature.

Recall that the history of cutting and sewing begins as early as the Stone Age: primitive people created clothes for themselves from animal skins using bone or stone awls. Needles, the prototypes of today's contemporaries, appeared in China in the 3rd century BC. And their first mass production began in the XIV century in the German Nuremberg.

The first sewing machine was created in the second half of the XVIII century by Barthelemy Timonier. After receiving a patent for his invention, he opened the first automated tailoring factory. A more modern version of the sewing machine appeared in 1851 at the Singer company.

Gradually, the designs of devices for cutting and sewing were improved, they became faster and more multifunctional. At large enterprises - computerized. But, despite this, hand-made cutting and sewing remain popular among needlewomen around the world today.

Several months ago, thanks to the Violity website, a rare nine-volume collection was added to the collection of one book collector - "History of mankind. World History" 1903.
