In the lands of Scotland, an ancient sword and horse harness from the bronze age were discovered – they were found by the British Amateur archaeologist Mariusz Stepien. The items were almost on the border between England and Scotland.
Thanks to the climate, some of the harness is well preserved. Scientists studied the wood and leather details in detail to determine how they were attached to each other. The items were found thanks to the sword, which was fixed by a metal detector. According to the readings of the device, the artifacts lay underground at a depth of half a meter.
The archaeologist reported his discovery to scientists, who immediately began to conduct large-scale excavations. In addition to the sword and harness, rings, jewelry, and parts of the chariot were extracted from the ground. The discovery of such ancient items is very important, because they are the first such find for Scotland, but in other areas of the UK, such artifacts have already been found.
