New coin: Ukraine issued 2 hryvnia in honor of Vladimir Perets

On Tuesday, September 15, a new Nickel silver coin was issued in Ukraine to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of philologist and literary theorist Vladimir Perets. The novelty with a circulation of 30 thousand copies was issued as follows. The obverse depicts a composition that has become a symbol of Peretz's activities. It consists of two items: a book and a pen. On the side of the composition is the inscription "Filologiya Literatura Istoriya". The nominal value is indicated above the text – 2 hryvnias. On the reverse, you can see a portrait of the philologist, his name, as well as another composition that also carries its own meaning: this is an unfinished work of the researcher, interrupted due to repression by the Soviet government.

Vladimir Peretz was a Professor at Kiev University, studied poetry, paid attention to the formation of the style of Ukrainian love lyrics. His interests included the history of theater: the scientist wrote several fundamental works about theater activities in Ukraine, Russia and Poland. He traveled to Poland, where he studied Polish Renaissance poets and Baroque literature.
