Canada presented a set of seven stamps issued in honor of the artistic community that existed in the first half of the XX century under the name "Group of seven". Exactly one hundred years ago, in 1920, seven canadian landscape artists presented their work at a joint exhibition. The group lasted until 1933. Then more and more artists joined the community, and eventually it grew to become the "Canadian group of artists".

The stamps depict seven landscapes that were not previously found in philatelic products. Three artists worked on the design: Andrew Conlon, Lionel Gadoury, and Matthew Killin. In addition, souvenir booklets and collectible envelopes with portraits of artists were printed. Assistance in the issuance of stamps was provided by the staff of galleries and archives, providing photos of artists. Photographs taken during the 1920 exhibition were selected.

The artists met long before the exhibition and joined together in 1913 – many of them worked for the design company Grip Ltd. The main participants were Franklin Carmichael, Lauren Harris, Alexander Jackson, Frank Johnson, Arthur Lismer, James MacDonald, and Frederick Varley. The line-up changed several times, as Frank Johnson left the community a year after the show, and Alfred Casson joined five years later. In the early 30s, it also included Edwin Holgate and Lemoine Fitzgerald. Landscape artists traveled around the country, looking for the most beautiful places and transferred what they saw with the help of paints to paintings. As a result, they were recognized as the creators of a separate canadian school of art.
