Next month, the French post office will issue a stamp depicting the invention of the mid-XVIII century - the fardier à vapeur. 250 years ago, in 1770, the French engineer Nicolas cugnot presented a prototype of a car in which two vehicles are connected: a car and a steam locomotive. A stamp with the inscription "250 ANS DU FARDIER DE CUGNOT 1770-2020" is dated to this date. The nominal value of the philatelic novelty is 1.16 euros. You can use one payment method to pay for sending a letter weighing up to 20 g to France, Andorra and Monaco. A total of 400,000 copies were printed.

A year before his main invention, cunho presented the first version of the machine equipped with a steam engine, which is now on display in Paris. A year later, he improved the design, giving it the name "Fire cart", since the purpose of the machine was to transport artillery pieces. Since the design was far from perfect, an accident occurred during testing of a hybrid locomotive and car, during which the engineer drove into the wall of the Arsenal. Today, the car can be seen in the Paris Museum of arts and crafts.
