Candidate of historical Sciences Alexander Alferov reported a unique find, a previously unknown city of Kievan Rus, which is hidden near Gorodnitsa (Zhytomyr region). Recently, ancient coins were found here, and the numismatic find has already been given the name "Gorodnitsky treasure". Now archaeologists continue to explore the territory and have already identified urban structures on the hilly terrain.
A surface study gave the first results: several small fragments of clay that have undergone heat treatment and are similar to plinth – a brick from the Kievan Rus period. According to Alferov, there are ruins of the city with a complex fortification (Gorodnitsa was protected by two lines of ramparts and special defensive slopes). The remains of one of the brick buildings probably belong to the Church. In the near future, archaeologists plan to conduct a more detailed study of this place and immediately provide new information about the lost city.
