In the Slovak city of Trenčín, on the territory of the Brezina forest Park zone, archaeologists have found artifacts from different historical eras. The most ancient of them belong to the iron age. Some of the finds next year will show in Trenčín Museum.
Excavations began in the forest Park this summer, in mid-July. Works related to the reconstruction of the entrance to the southern fortifications of the Trenchinsky castle were carried out here. An interesting place was a dug moat, which is located in a place where more than 2 thousand years ago sacrifices were made. This site has provided historians with rich material to study. According to scientists, there are thousands of pieces of pottery, bronze, glass, iron artifacts, as well as countless small bones.
Trencin is the fifth place of sacrifice found in Slovakia. Until now, little is known about the rituals performed in this place. This is why the discovery is extremely important and valuable. Figures in the form of human heads deserve special attention. Research work is planned to continue until mid-October.
