"General's" chronograph of the Kirov Watch Factory is exhibited at Violiti

The Soviet chronograph exhibited on the Violiti website is the rarest and most interesting watch of the Soviet period. Such devices were produced for the highest command personnel of the USSR Air Force in the period from 1938 to 1941.

Lot - a one-button "general's" chronograph, created at the Kirov State Watch Factory in 1941. The device is equipped with a chrome-plated body, plexiglass glass, a mechanism on 17 stones with gold-plated boards. On the inner side of the back cover there is a serial number and a brand of the ABB artel.

Equipment for such a wristwatch with a stopwatch was purchased in Europe and was mastered during the modernization process in the period from 1936 to 1938.

Chronographs on 17 jewels were produced in small series at the Kirov plant by order of the Air Force until its evacuation from Moscow in 1941. They were considered a constructive copy of one of the Swiss movements. However, parts of these calibers were not interchangeable.

Now, some copies of the LF-S are exhibits of the funds of technical, military and memorial museums. They are officially described and displayed in exhibitions.

We will remind, the State Chaszavod them. Kirov was engaged in the production of pocket and wrist watches, stopwatches. He also produced navigational, deck, aviation, automobile watches and marine chronometers.

The decision to organize the enterprise was made in December 1927. And two years later in the United States, the Soviet representative office of "Armtorg" acquired two watch factories that went bankrupt. The equipment and fittings of one of them became the basis for the first State Clock Plant in Moscow.
