On September 3, 1875, Ferdinand Porsche, designer and founder of the world-famous Porsche company, was born in Maffersdorf, a small town that is now a district of the Czech city of Liberz. After the death of his eldest son, the father who ran the repair shop recognized Ferdinand as his heir. At the age of 15, Porsche started working for his father, then went to school, and a few years later took up the implementation of a revolutionary idea – the creation of a car equipped with an electric drive.

The novelty presented by Porsche was a very good project: the car moved at a speed of 40 km/h and was compact. The main drawback was the large weight, as well as the capacity of the batteries, which allowed you to drive for about an hour. Despite the fact that the finished car won the highest award at the Paris world exhibition, its Creator considered the project unfinished to the end.

In 1906, Porsche took the post of technical Director at the company that produced Austro-Daimler. Here he had a hand in several models: Prinz-Heinrich, ADM, etc. When the first world war began, the engineer decided to develop military equipment. In the 1930s, Porsche was invited to the Soviet Union, where he visited several enterprises that produced tanks and aircraft. Since during the next world war, the engineer again began to develop military equipment, and this time heading his own company Porsche, the inventor was required to hand over to the authorities all information about technologies obtained by Porsche during his stay in the USSR.

In the post-war period, Ferdinand Porsche was arrested. He spent about 20 months in prison, and after his release was forced to stay for some time in France. The engineer returned to his homeland in 1949, and at the end of 1951 he died as a result of a stroke. After his death, Porsche was taken over by Ferdinand's son, ferry Porsche.
