In 1894, Elena Diakonova was born in Kazan. she became one of the most important women in the life of world-famous artists and poets. She lived in Moscow for a while and entered a girls ' gymnasium. In 1912, Diakonova went to a Swiss sanatorium, where she was treated for tuberculosis. This trip changed everything in her life.

In Switzerland, Elena Diakonova met the French poet Paul Eluard. The young poet was impressed by his new friend, her fervor and education. She is represented by Gala – under this name Diakonova went down in history. Due to the close relationship between Gala and Eluard, the poet turned to love lyrics. They married in 1917 and had a daughter a year later.

In 1921, Gala often visited the artist max Ernst, posed for the surrealist and eventually became his mistress, without breaking ties with Eluard. Ernst soon moved in with Eluard and Gale, and they have lived together ever since, making no secret of their relationship. The next love occurred in 1929, when Gala and her husband visited Salvador Dali, who was 10 years younger than her. Strong passion struck both, and after five years, the Gala was married to the Spanish artist.

Gala became the main character of many works by Salvador Dali. The surrealist turned her image into a modern icon, glorified her, and mythologized her through artistic means. Gala helped her husband by managing his financial Affairs. Gala Dali died in 1982, and is Buried in the Spanish village of Púbol.
