In 1855, construction began on a railroad track that became known as the Kansas Pacific railroad in 1863. The company that built this route provided transportation links to settlements in the Great plains, located on the foothills of the plateau in the United States. Later, the railroad was merged with the Union Pacific and is still part of this network. These photos show locomotives, depots, warehouses, bridges, and the area through which the road runs.
