Charles Frederick worth – one of the most famous French fashion designers of the XIX century. Born in 1825, he worked in stores in London as a young man, then moved to Paris, where he helped cloth merchants. He married a model from one of the famous companies and started creating simple dresses for her.

In 1858, worth met an investor who provided money to open a workshop. Soon the fashion designer became famous, and ladies from high society began to address him: famous Actresses, princesses, singers. People began to come to him for orders not only from all over France, but also from other countries.

Worth made a special contribution to the development of fashion. It was thanks to him that an important principle changed: the fashion designer did not allow him to dictate terms, and he himself showed developments at special shows four times a year. And after the shows, he took orders from clients, creating outfits tailored to certain sizes. Worth himself got rid of ruffles and frills, tried to stick to simple forms. In addition, it is believed that he was the first to start making marks on clothing.

Problems with the business began during the Franco-Prussian war. Worth and his partner had to close the firm. In 1871, the fashion designer independently opened a new company – House of Worth. Worth connected his sons, who became not only his partners, but also heirs after the death of the fashion designer.
