A painting by the world-famous and mysterious artist Banksy, called "Show me Monet", was purchased at Sotheby's for $ 9.8 million. According to preliminary estimates, the work could be purchased for 3.9-6.5 million dollars, but the final price was much higher.

In his creation, Banksy quotes the impressionist Claude Monet, or rather, his painting "Japanese bridge". But in the version of the modern artist, the beauty of nature is overshadowed by signs of human civilization: in the pond there is a traffic cone, as well as half-sunken shopping carts. Man-made objects are bright symbols of consumer society.

Today, Banksy is one of the most famous artists who, through his work, tries to draw public attention to the social problems of our time. He opposes war and the capitalist system, and touches on topics such as the hypocrisy of power and inequality.
