October 25, 1802 in England was born the artist Richard Bonington, who made a significant contribution to the development of romanticism in painting. After arriving in Calais in 1817, Richard began to paint in watercolors, soon entered the School of fine arts in Paris, met with French painters who also joined the romanticism in their time.

During a trip to France, Belgium and Italy, Richard Bonington masters landscape painting, then returns to his native England, where he turns to the work of William Turner, studies his work, and also becomes more familiar with the English historical school of painting. The author develops other facets of creativity, in particular lithography. He was described as an artist who achieved not only the power and accuracy of the image, but also distinguished by the ease of touch, especially manifested in watercolors.

Bonington influenced the Impressionists, his work was inspired by representatives of the Barbizon school. It is amazing how much the English artist achieved at such a young age. He did not live very long – a month before his 26th birthday, Bonington died of tuberculosis.
