In Buckinghamshire, England, the remains of the medieval Church of St. Mary the virgin, some parts of which contain symbols left by witches. One of the stones is engraved with a circle with lines radiating from the center. In the very center of the circle is a drilled hole. It is believed that these signs refer to apotropos of magic in their task was a reflection of the devastating impact of evil forces. Similar symbols have previously been found in other regions of the UK. Some of them look like sundials, and maybe they were. However, the new find was located in the walls of the Western support almost at ground level – the artifact could not play the role of a clock.

The history of the Church begins in the second half of the XI century, when the chapel was built. Over time, it was expanded, and a small structure that was used for personal prayers, turned into a large Church, visited by local residents. Today, the ruins of the building are being carefully studied, and work will continue until 2021. Since there is no documentary mention of the destruction of the Church, the archaeologists could not even imagine what they would find at the site.
