A letter written by German composer Ludwig van Beethoven was sold in the United States. During the auction, the lot price reached 275 thousand dollars. The auction was held in Dallas, at Heritage Auctions. For the organizers, such a high final price of the letter was a surprise, since many believed that they would give a maximum of 60 thousand dollars for it.

As a rule, items that belonged to Beethoven do not often appear on sale at auctions. This lot drew attention to the fact that the text is talking about the musical works of the composer. The author addressed it to Herr von Baumann: he asks to borrow the notes of the clavier for the trio. Beethoven writes to Bauman that he is soon ready to return the notes to Him, and will also send a Sonata composed for violin.

The letter was bought by a pianist who wished to remain anonymous. However, she shared her plans for the purchase: soon the letter will be delivered to one of the new York music schools, where the winner of the auction studied.
