Louis Charles de Blacas French nobleman, connoisseur of Antiques, a collector of ancient artifacts, the son of Pierre-Louis de Blacas d Olpa. Born in 1815, he studied in France, then moved to Austria for a while. From his father, he inherited an extensive collection of Greek vases, precious stones, and antique coins, which he continually added to over the course of his life. His particular passion was numismatics, and he not only translated several important works on coinage into French, but also added his own notes to them.

A special place in the de Blakas collection is occupied by hydriae – ancient Greek vessels made of ceramics. They were used for water, sometimes inside Guidry kept the ashes of the dead. Products made in a geometric style are more slender and have a long neck. In the VI century BC, the hydriae become rounded. Such vessels were worn on the shoulder or on the head. In addition, there was a miniature version of hydria – gericke. We present a part of the collection of hydria that belonged to a French collector.
