The Soviet camera "Sport" has become another interesting item on the Violiti website. And, despite the fact that the device was sold as a collector's item in a non-working condition, users did not disregard it.

The lot sold is dual viewfinder single lens reflex camera. Designed for 35mm film. The seller positioned it as non-working.

Such devices belonged to the first small format cameras of this type. Their serial production lasted from 1937 to 1941 in Leningrad.

The prototype was the Galveta camera, which was first written about in one of the Soviet specialized magazines in 1934. And two years later, the same printed publication announced the start of production of a narrow-film SLR camera "Sport".

The first version of the camera was produced in a total of 300 pieces. It was designed for 35mm film with a paper leader. On the back there was a device through which the photographer could track the number of the frame on the film.

A little later, a new version of the camera appeared - the cast body received a more rounded shape, a removable back cover appeared. It was produced with slight changes for almost 6 years. During this time, about 20 thousand copies were released.

Today the Soviet Sport cameras are of significant collectible value. And even despite the non-working condition, which is quite common, such a device can become a worthy exhibit in the collection.
