In January of this year, a 20-franc coin with a portrait of the writer Friedrich Durrenmatt was issued in Switzerland. The coin is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the author of novels and plays, made of 835 silver. Circulation of the new product: 15 thousand (UNC) + 5 thousand (proof). Remo Mascherini worked on the coin. The obverse depicts a cross, which is located on the flag of Switzerland, the nominal value (20 FR) is indicated, the Swissmint mint sign (the letter "B") is located. On the reverse is a portrait of the writer and the years of his life (1921-1990) are indicated.

Friedrich Durrenmatt showed talent in the artistic arts, but preferred literature. Initially, he wrote short stories, the very first published in 1943. The works were dark and reflected the mood that prevailed during the Second World War. However, successful were his detectives, who were in great demand among readers. Especially successful was the dramatic work "The Marriage of Mr. Mississippi": the comedy found a response in the wake of the development of the theater of the absurd and interested the German public.
