Rare tiles found in an old Lviv house

In one of the old houses in Lviv found tiles made in 1530. Judging by the images and the technology of creation, the construction material was produced abroad. At that time, such decoration was very expensive, and not everyone could afford to decorate the house using such materials. Tiles covered the ancient stove, and now attempts are underway to restore it. If the attempt to recreate the design of the furnace fails, the tiles will be shown to the general public separately.

Many of the old stoves in the city were destroyed over time, the tiles were usually thrown out into the street. However, in this case, the artifacts were preserved, because they remained inside the room, under the floor covering. The house in which the tiles were found is very old and contains elements of Gothic architecture. The tiles themselves are decorated with drawings that can be attributed to the Italian Renaissance. The decorative material was broken into large fragments that can be collected. It is worth noting that the furnace was rebuilt in the XVIII century, breaking the previous one. Previously, such finds were not found in the city, only in one of the houses on the Market Square was found facing tiles with a similar pattern.
