St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral is an architectural gem of the capital of Ukraine, the center of spiritual values for centuries, the resting place of many princes and outstanding personalities. The cathedral was built in 1108 as a symbol of the victory of the troops of Kievan Rus over the Polovtsians by Prince Mikhail Svyatopolk Izyaslavich. The church is dedicated to the patron saint and defender of Kiev-Archangel Michael. The cathedral has been repeatedly destroyed in the course of history. In 1240, the Tatar-Mongols, the troops of the Crimean Khan in 1483. In 1710, the church was reconstructed.

On the obverse of the coin, framed by the floral ornament of the cathedral mosaic of the Eucharist, there is an image of the small State Emblem of Ukraine and an inscription in four lines: UKRAINE, 100 HRYVNIA, 1998, designation and sample of the precious metal (Au 900, net weight-15.55 grams). On the reverse, against the background of the image of St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral, there are silhouettes of the twelve apostles. On the coin is a circular inscription St. Michael's Golden - domed Cathedral of the XII century.
