In August, an auction will be held in California, in which the Porsche 917K 1970 car will be put up. The race car is planned to be sold at RM Sotheby's, according to estimates, the cost of a unique copy can be 16-18 million dollars. The car was built to compete in the oldest sports car competition, the 24 Hours of Le Mans (24 Heures du Mans), which took place in 1970.

While participating in the race, the car went off the track and crashed, but was later restored as a Porsche 917 Spyder. It was this model that was involved in the filming of the film about Le Mans in 1971, and then participated in the European InterSerie Championship in 1972 and 1973.From 1974 to 1988, the sports car was owned by the French racing driver Olivier Shandon, then it passed to the American collector Mike Amalfitano. The current owner gave $ 4 million for the car when he purchased it in 2010.
