Flowerpot, created during the Russian Empire, has become another interesting lot on the Violity website.

The pyramidal porcelain is decorated with plant and animal elements. Floral motifs are used for a decorative "garter", and images of animals are placed at the base as an element of a stand.

Initially, porcelain was used only for the needs of the imperial palace and was practically not found in free trade. But every merchant understood that products made from this material would be in great demand if they were on sale. This is how private factories began to appear.

The flourishing of artistic porcelain is associated with the coming to power of Catherine II. The empress admired the European culture so much that she invited foreign masters. It is believed that it was they who subsequently determined the style of porcelain art in Russia.

At the end of the 18th century, the Rococo style was replaced by classicism. Brilliance and grace are gradually giving way to simplicity of forms and subjects.

By the beginning of the 20th century, the influence on art of the Art Nouveau style is noted. And this could not but affect the development of Russian porcelain. After the revolution, already at the nationalized enterprises, searches were carried out in the context of propaganda porcelain.

But, despite centuries of history, porcelain from famous Russian manufacturers can still be seen today - in private and state collections.

In the section of the Violity website "Ceramics, porcelain, glass" there are almost 40 thousand lots - figurines and compositions, dishes and cutlery , interior items.
