In the UK, the auction of The Canterbury Auction Galleries sold the posthumous bronze face mask and hands of Joseph Stalin. Lot went under the hammer for 17,3 thousand dollars.
The name of the new owner of the bronze face of the Soviet leader did not disclose. The former owner of the mask was a Briton who allegedly found her in the attic of his grandfather.
Auctioneer Dan Ponder admitted that he experienced a certain shock when the former owner of the mask came to him and asked him to put it on sale.
It was difficult to evaluate the lot, but the example was another mask, which went under the hammer in the English county of Shropshire for about $ 6,000.
For auctioners, it was a surprise that the mask was sold for a much larger amount.
