August 16, 1804 in the Boulogne forest was the first awarding the Order of the Legion of Honor - the French national order (organization), established by Napoleon Bonaparte on May 19, 1802, following the example of knightly orders.

1819 - in Manchester in St. Peter's Square a large meeting was held demanding the introduction of a law in Britain on universal suffrage. The attempt to disperse the protesters with the help of the police and the army led to the death of 11 people. This event went down in history under the names "Manchester Slaughterhouse" and "Peterlo".

1820 - in Nezhin, the Gymnasium of the Higher Sciences (now the Nezhinsky Pedagogical Institute) was opened with the money of Prince Alexander Bezborodko.

1896 - a deposit of gold was discovered on the Bonanza Creek brook near the Klondike (Alaska) river, which was the beginning of the phenomenon called the "gold rush", and the word "Klondike" itself became synonymous with a source of great blessings.

1925 - Charlie Chaplin's film "Gold Rush" premiered.

1930 - in the US studio "MGM" released the world's first color cartoon "Frog Flip", a 6-minute film, shot by artist Yub Ivers in technology Technicolor. It was his first tape after he left Walt Disney's studio.

1972 - in Toronto, the National Exhibition was opened, at which the manufacturers of China were presented for the first time for the Western world.
