From 1956 to 1958, Elvis Presley was the unconditional leader of all musical charts and hit parades, becoming almost the first white performer who achieved such success in the traditional "black" rock 'n' roll.

At the same time Presley starred in four successful feature films, which only strengthened his popularity.

In 1958, Presley went to the army and served 18 months in West Germany as a jeep driver. Recorded in advance, five singles allowed not only to support the popularity of Presley, but also became "golden."

After demobilization in 1960 in the rank of sergeant, Presley somewhat changed his stage image, recorded several romantic ballads, refused touring and focused on making music films, which in the sixties were filmed 27.

In the late 1960s, rock'n'roll began to change dramatically and the youth no longer considered Elvis Presley the leader of this musical style. He also recorded several successful songs that climbed to the top of the hit parades, but after "Burning Love" in 1972, luck turned from Presley.

In 1973, he divorced and subsequently, in a difficult moral condition, addicted to drugs. Another of his "hobby" was food. Having typed too much excess weight, losing external appeal and dynamism, Presley gave several concerts that ended in complete failure.

At noon on August 16, 1977, Elvis Presley was taken to hospital in Memphis in a grave condition, where he soon died. He was buried in Graceland, in a suburb of Memphis, and this place later became the mecca of rock and roll fans.
