For many years of the history of the philocarty, collectors' collections of postcards were made up of reproductions of two formats: 9x14 and 10x15 cm. Even small deviations in the direction of increase can create difficulties in storing postcards.

They do not fit in standard envelopes and in the slots of an album made for these formats. The same can be said about photo albums with polyethylene pages, which are designed for reproductions larger than 10x15 cm.

But, despite these inconveniences, more publishers are moving to the issue of larger cards. Although along with a large format postcard, you can buy the same reproduction in the "classical" format.

The discrepancy of new formats to traditional methods of their storage causes discontent among many collectors. But employees of publishing houses say that they produce postcards not for collectors, but for average visitors to museums and exhibitions.

Reproductions may be the only reminder of a lost work of art. A long life of the postcard is possible not at the notorious average visitor of the museum, but only in the collection of the philokartist.
