In September 2009, a team of Israeli archaeologists managed to find a large coin treasure. The find belonged to the time of the anti-Roman insurrection led by Bar-Kohba in 132-135 AD.
The treasure was found in a cave in the area of the Judean Hills. The total number of coins was about 120 pieces. Among them were bronze, silver and gold coins. They were very well hidden: it was possible to reach the treasure only through a narrow hole.
Archaeologists noted the good safety of coins. They were perechekennye followers of Bar-Kohba. The coins depict the facade of the Temple in Jerusalem and the inscription that read "Freedom to Jerusalem". Such a large number of coins of this period before the researchers did not occur.
