Squirrel and Arrow are the first creatures that returned from space to Earth
Sputnik-5 spacecraft with dogs named Belka and Strelka was sent to orbit from the Baikonur range in Kazakhstan on August 19, 1960. It was the first spacecraft that returned to Earth.
To send a man into space was afraid without an idea of the influence of factors arising in weightlessness. The study was planned for monkeys and dogs. But it turned out that monkeys do not fit - they are too capricious, difficult to train.

For Protein and Arrow, the designers have developed water supply, food and waste recycling systems. Medical and biological equipment recorded changes that occurred in their organisms.
On August 20, 1960 the descent vehicle with the unharmed dogs landed successfully. The duration of space flight was more than 25 hours. Sergey Korolev was very pleased with the test results and began work on man's flight into space.
