August 22: Battle of Bosworth, the world's first air show and "Savannah"

August 22, 1485 in the last, decisive battle of the Wars of the Roses, the army of Henry Tudor with the support of troops from French and Welsh mercenaries, defeated the troops of Richard III Plantagenet in the battle near Bosworth, in which the king himself was killed.
