This rare stone was sold at auction Sotheby's in Geneva for a record price of 6.7 million dollars. This jewel was part of the royal heritage. Apparently, this is what influenced the speed of its sale - only 4 minutes.
A pear-shaped, dark gray-blue stone in 6.16 carats called Farnese Blue is one of the most important diamonds in history, which until now remained in a private collection.
It was found in the Indian mines of Golconda in 1715 and was presented to Elizabeth Farnese, the daughter of the Duke of Parma, as a sign of her marriage to King Philip V of Spain.
More than 300 years, no one, except close relatives and family jewelers, knew about its existence. Even now the name of the current owner has not been named.
