Bulgarian archaeologists discovered the ruins of a previously unknown church with well-preserved frescoes, including the image of Jesus Christ.

The find was made during excavations in a medieval fortress on the territory of the modern city of Veliko Tarnovo.

The fresco is dated to the XIII century and refers to the period of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom, whose capital was Tyrnovgrad. Scientists note that the church is truly unique, as it has a rich wall painting.
