A 2000 year old garden with a small pool was found in Pompeii

In the Italian Pompeii was discovered the sanctuary age of 2000 years. In the sanctuary was a home altar - Lararium, garden and a small pool.

Under a thick layer of volcanic ash, which Vesuvius covered the ancient city in 79 AD, frescoes depicting bulls, birds, snakes and trees are preserved.

"In each house there was Lararium, but only rich people could allocate for it a separate room with a pool and decorate it with luxurious frescoes," said Ingrid Rowland of the University of Notre Dame.
