These coins saved the life of a Belgian warrior during the First World War.
Optics Buyssens by pure chance put them in a breast pocket and forgot about it. Going into battle later he was wounded. A German soldier hit him on the head, and then shot at the heart.
If it were not for three coins from France and not three coins from Belgium, the soldier would have died on the battlefield. The bullet rebounded from the coins.
Opticas Buyssens retained his savior. Recently his great-grandson told about them and about this story, having supported his story with photos of those very coins.
