Near the Egyptian city of Cairo, archaeologists have discovered mummified cats, which are more than 4000 years old.

Mustafa Wazirov of the Egyptian Council of Antiquities stated that the discovery of mummified cat remains is a rare phenomenon. People were mummified to save their bodies for the afterlife. The animals were mummified as religious sacrifices.

Archaeologists have also found a door to another tomb, which remains sealed. Plan to open it in the coming weeks.
