Italy may disrupt an exhibition in Paris dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the death of the Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci. Italians refuse to provide his paintings for the exhibition in the Louvre. Explain that France often appropriates his work.

“The agreement on the provision of paintings by the master, which the previous government concluded last year, is shameful,” said Lucia Bergonzoni from the Italian Ministry of Culture. “Leonardo da Vinci died in France, but he was still Italian.” Why do the French refuse to lend Mona Lisa for our exhibition? ”

Da Vinci painted this picture during the years 1503-1505 in Florence. In 1516 he took her to France. After the artist’s death, the royal family owned the canvas. Since 1793, "Mona Lisa" is stored in the Louvre.
