Can torture instruments be collectibles? A 53-year-old illusionist, a historian and an expert on shoots proved that they can. Canadian Steve Santini from Owen Sound, Ontario, managed to assemble over 220 torture instruments.

Remarkably, Steve experienced the effect of most of them on himself. He wanted to understand the principle of the copies from his collection. And since the Canadian has an extensive list of relics intended for judicial torture and execution from the 16th century to the present day, he has enough experience.

For the first time Steve Santini became interested in this topic at the age of 15. Even then, he learned to get rid of handcuffs, while being in the water. He easily dropped the chains and shackles from his arms and legs. Since then, he began to study and collect devices for torture and executions, becoming a true expert in this field.

Now in the collection of Steve Santini, there are more than 200 instruments for torture. Among them are not only chains, lashes and tongs, but also special tables, armchairs, braziers and rackouts.

Some believe that this collection is not for the faint of heart.
